The Arab
Office for Youth and Environment (AOYE) has gained a
lot of the experience through the ultimate living with
the harming environmental problems of Greater
Cairo residents that mainly appeared obviously in the
last four years by The Hotline Environmental Service
Unit (HLS)
Ford Foundation
was – and still – the real supporter of lasting and
continuing such community based action when funding
the second phase of the Hotline 2000-2003.
Community
participation was dramatically increased in many stages
of the project that improves the end products aimed
from HLS activities, but the
real achievement - from our point of view – was their
participation in the implementation phase and drawing
the project strategy that cope with their needs …..
that was the real success of the HLS in the year 2001.
In this regard,
The Arab Office for Youth and Environment (AOYE) had
a mission of increasing the limits of the service through
various channels by involving more partners effectively
and to convey the voice of both community and HLS to
maximum decision makers of many levels who have the
power of change.
The approach
of HLS in this period was to sustain the credibility
and trust between the complainers and the HLS, to receive
more calls and to work swiftly with partners to get
the solution of environmental problems.
