 Overall Objective: 


 

Increase the community awareness about the environmental problems and laws and encourage public participation in preserving the Environment

 

 

 

 

Project Objectives


 

  • Linking society with the surrounding environmental conditions

  • Encouraging the community to participate in the responsibility of protecting the environment.

  • Act as a tool to mobilize the community and adopt the environmental problem solving.

  • Increase awareness of Egyptian Environmental Law 4 of 1994 and the rights of citizens to report and complain about violations would result.
  • Receive citizens complaints in the Greater Cairo region
  • Channel them to the responsible parties (Governorates, industry,...)
  • Follow up on the response to such complaints. 
  • Acting as an advocate for better environmental conditions, the Hotline service will
  • Help highlight attention on serious environmental problems and means of solving them. 
  • Encourage positive participation from the community in depicting and helping to solve environmental problems.

 

 


Specific Objectives


 

 

 

  • Acting as awareness, participatory, dialogue and people mobilization project to be adopted after its evaluation throughout the country.

  • Spreading awareness of Law 4 of 1994, the rights of people as expressed in the law and the penalties for non-compliance in the community.

  • Acting as a tool to increase awareness of environmental problems in the community.

  • Promoting an active role to be played by NGO’s in Cooperation with the community to advocate for a cleaner and healthier environment.

  • Creating a sense that the community has the right to complain about environmental problems in their areas.

 

 

 

 

  • Transmitting the community’s complaints to the concerned agencies and following up on the feedback of such complaints through a monthly report.  The report will illustrate different areas of environmental problems raised by the community and the number of plaintiffs.
  • Creating a channel of communication between the community and the Governorates.
  • Knowledge of areas that require immediate interference in certain communities.
  • Encouraging the participation of Greater Cairo’s youth in the problem-solving process whether or not they are directly harmed by it.
