    In CUW 2000

All the Governorates are invited again to participate in CUW Campaign in the range of 1-3 days September 2000. AOYE will conduct the Campaign basically in 8 Governorates: Cairo, Monofeya, Red Sea, Suez, Beni Suef, Minia, Suhag, and Luxor City and launching 8 Environmental Streets in the 8 governorates as a product of AOYE initiative in the previous campaigns (CUW 98 & CUW 99) when all governorates have been invited to participate in the CUW campaign.

AOYE aims at implementing CUW through a three dimensional plan which will be carried out by groups of 100 local youth volunteers in each governorate working together with youth and adult volunteers from their communities in the area chosen through the Governorate’s authority to make it cleaner and to make a start for new technique of disposal and collection system for the unserved districts.

The objectives of those youth groups will be to become empowered in their own community to make that community a cleaner and healthier place to live. The CUW implementation plan will include those three dimensions: first, environmental awareness through the organization of a workshop for the participating youth on Solid Waste Management, second, clean-up activities by the removal of

solid wastes from the chosen areas,

and third, plantation activities in the cleaned areas instead

The general aim is that these local volunteers will show a sense of greater community by cooperating and working together to form community based organizations (CBO's) and "Friends of the Environment" clubs to aid in the removal of all manner of garbage from designated public sites, while taking care that the re-disposal of that garbage is managed responsibly.
