Public Awareness Campaign


 

 

 

Objective


 

conduct a media and public awareness campaign to provide the community with direct and indirect messages on means of using all the possible approaches and facilities in minimizing their solid wastes, maximizing environmentally sound waste reusing and recycling; and promoting an environmentally sound solid waste treatment and disposal.

 

 

Inputs


 

  • Design one Mobile Classroom in each of the 4 target countries that can be set up practically any where. (mobile classroom description and objective will be illustrated in the following sections)

  • Setting up an integrated program for reaching the target areas by workshops, seminars and public meetings on promoting the concept of SWM in households, schools and public and governmental buildings.

  • Aspecialized documentary director to make two Educational Videos ( developed in Egypt to others ).

 

 

 

 

 

  • A set of educational materials/tools that do not rely on literacy; the emphasis will be on demonstration rather than explanation (developed in Egypt to others ).
  • A Designer to develop the public awareness campaign materials and mass media (developed in Egypt to others ).
  • Schools (6 Schools per target area ), religions centers. (the existing Mosques and Churches).

 


Outputs:


 

 

  • Seventy-two workshops ( 18 in each area ), public meetings and seminars with minimum total 2000 participants from the local communities in their own areas (One per month per target area ).
  • Two educational videos, one for promoting the concept of minimizing of solid wastes and one for reusing and recycling processes, to be shown at all possible venues and locations (developed in Egypt in Arabic language, provide partners with copies).
  • One poster, two flyers, one brochure and one sticker to be placed in target households that are separating at the source to distinguish them from the others and for further promotion.

 

 

 

 

  • Twenty four oriented school (6 in each area) with a minimum of 2000 students representing the three educational levels (primary, preparatory and secondary schools)
  • Seventy-two religions lectures on the concept of Solid Waste Management (18 in each area).
  • Seventy-two youth centers activities around the Solid Waste Management issue (18 in each area).

  • Forty-eight billboards in various places in the target areas in the cooperation with local units
