To identify
the local resource target groups which can participate
in a comprehensive solid waste management program in
four target areas.
Inputs
Four urban
areas in Egypt, Lebanon,
Morocco & Tunisia.
Three RAED Social Researchers in each
target area to design and implement the KAP survey
and perform the data analysis.
Solid Wastes classification to reveal which
type of waste is prevalent in which area and how to
handle best each kind (Paper -Plastics-Glass - Organic
Materials)
A community meetings in each location to
explain the program and gain community support at an
early stage, with special encouragement to women youth
to attend.
Identifying the garbage collection system
collectors in each
area.
Outputs:
The KAP results and final report on the main
characteristics of 2000 households in the four target
areas.
Community Leaders who will act as spokesmen
for the community program.
Identification of preliminary program
participants.
An assessment of community interest and
commitment.
An operating manual for the classification
of the Solid Waste of each target area.
Initiating an agreement with the existing
garbage collection company, so as to collect the
garbage from the 500 selected households, Which will be provided with two color bins
for separation.
The agreement is to collect the
separated garbage from these houses, to be
transferred it to the dumping area for
implementing the further activities of the
project. This type of partnership will ensure the
sustainability after the end of the project.
