Geographic Scope

on the local, NCWCP’s goals and strategies are being implemented through demonstration project in the following areas: 

Cairo Governorate: Zamalalek and Manial districts (urban)

 

Ismailia Governorate: Ain Ghosain and Al Rayyah Villages (rural)

 

Suez Governorate: Ganayen district ( semi urban)

   

The major objectives of NCWCP are to :

   

 Raise the level of public awareness on the need for water conservation by means of media campaigns and personal communication. Such activities aim at promotion behavioral change regarding potable water use.

 
 
   

Promote the development of local industry with respect to raising the quality of existing plumbing fixture and devices and manufacture of others that conserve water.

 
 
   

Promote cooperation between water-related entities in the planning and implementation of a water conservation strategy in Egypt.

STRATEGIES OF THE NCWCP

   

Integrated the efforts of the public and privet sector and foreign technical assistance.

 
 

 

Integrate activities directed at the national local levels.

 

 

Involve local communities in the planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluation, and continuance of water conservation activities.

 
 
 

 

 Develop and utilize a data base for planning and evaluation.

 
 

 

Use of demonstration projects to show how water conservation concepts and practices can be applied in the community.

 
 
 

 

Introduce low-cost concepts and techniques for reduction of water loss.
 

 
 

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

 NCWCP’s organizational structure can be divided into two levels: administrative and implementation.

 ADMINISTRATIVE:

The following committees are responsible for development and authorization of NCWCP’s overall policies, provision of technical assistance, follow-up and evaluation of NCWCP activities:
 

High Steering Committee.

 

 

High Technical Advisory Committee. These two committees are headed by the Chairman in charge of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA).

 
 
 

 

Office for Technical Follow-up, headed by the director of water and Costal Areas Protection at the EEAA

 
 

 

Local Advisory Committees in the Ismailia headed by the respective for each.

 

IMPLEMENTATION:

 In house steering committee, comprised of representatives of NCWCP’s three partners .
